Care Support Staff

CQ Nurse is constantly recruiting a pool of Care Support Workers to meet the needs of our clients. We welcome your enquiry to join our team in providing best practice care to community and in-home care recipients.


What do we look for in our Care Support Workers?
At least 2 years previous experience in aged care, disability sector or community;
Qualification - at least Cert III in aged care, disability or community work up through to Registered Nurses with post grad qualifications in gerontology / palliative care;
Pleasant, friendly and personable disposition;
Unblemished Australian Federal Police Clearance (CQ Nurse will facilitate this check);
Can do attitude with advanced problem solving skills;
Attention to detail, and absolute discretion in observing confidentiality of client information;
Reliability and flexibility in meeting client needs;
Unblemished driving record, and licensed to drive in the State of Qld;
Unrestricted access to a reliable vehicle, that is registered and comprehensively insured; and
An undertaking to attend annual mandatory training and professional development opportunities as they arise.


What will you have to provide to us to support your application to join our company?
A current Curriculum Vitae - we can assist you with this, but you need to know your employment history, that is, who you have worked for and the dates and length of time of this employment. Also what your main duties in each role were.
The names of 2 professional line management referees, and their contact details - we will contact them on your behalf to discuss your skills and ability. These professionals must have worked with you within the last 2 years.
For all workers other than Enrolled Nurses and Registered Nurses, evidence of qualification obtained.
Identity documents to the value of 100 points, that is, Passport, Drivers License, Nursing registration evidence, medicare card etc - ask if unsure.
Evidence of Hepatitis B immunisation by laboratory report titre.
Current drivers license.


What process is involved in joining the CQ Community & In-Home Care team?
You make an enquiry with us
We schedule an interview with you (allow ~ 30 mins);
When you attend the interview, please bring the following:
1. Curriculum Vitae (or work history information);
2. The Names of 2 professional Line Management referees who have worked with you within the last 2 years;
3. Evidence of your qualification; and
4. Your 100 points Identification
Your initial interview will be to discuss the CQ Community & In-Home Care Model of care, your employment requirements, expectations and availability, your skills and attributes; and CQ Nurse expectations.
If both parties are satisfied, then we proceed to do our background searches - reference checking, criminal history clearance and qualification assessment (this may take 2 - 3 weeks).
If you meet our standard through this vetting, we will request another interview, in which we will assist you to complete employment paperwork.
You will be invited to attend a CQ Community & In-Home Care Team induction including manual handling training.
You will be provided with your own CQ Community & In-Home Care Team Work bag which will equip you for your field work on each occasion of work.
